HEATHER ECKELS
I discovered a love for mosaic art in 2009. I began my journey by working with ceramic tiles, and started adding hand molded clay pieces to add dimension to my murals.
My mosaic rocks are a true reflection of my love of using natural materials to create beauty. My goal is to create an image that reflects the amazing world and landscapes that surround us every day. I tend to gravitate towards hearts, fish and turtles with touches of metal and glass as I enjoy mixing textures within the images I produce. I believe that movement is a vital element and strive to capture it in every piece….And hearts… who doesn’t love a beautiful heart?
In addition to creating murals, tables and mosaic stones, I have participated in two wonderful community build art projects. I helped create a beautiful 12 foot rendition of the Aztec Calendar in Todos Santos, Mexico in 2012. In 2014, I assisted with the production, assembly and installation of the "Magic Carpet" bench on F Street in front of the Holiday Theater in my home town of Davis,California. I currently reside in Davis with my husband Kevin and we are thankful our three grown sons also live in Northern California.
